First off, and where I left off was Alexa and how to quantify your website.
Alexa is pretty essential for your website and how it's ranked- according to the big G -Google, and the other major search engines. Before I get going on this post, I want to put in a few Google URL'S that you'll need if you already have a site. If you have a site, especially an ad-sense site you need to read this.
As of March 1st, Google changed their policies and basically the way they do business now.. If you don't want lots of your privacy to go south, you'll need to check their new T.O.S. (terms of service). You'll find that here:. Migrating your domains is a new animal too. You can change your privacy selections by going to the settings section(s). Also be aware that Google now keeps track of everything you search for using their engine and can and will share this information.
OK, on to the Alexa. Alexa is the best way to have your site ranked and how to check your ranking, What you need tom do is simply click on over to Alexa and open a free account. After you do, hit "create an account" for a new account in the upper right corner. Pop in your email and a password and confirm to create your new account. Simply open the email from them and click the confirm account link and you're in.
When you log in, click on the claim your site button and follow the directions. Go to the "claim your site" under the site management tab on the left side. Simply choose one of the options for your snippet of code to place on your site or blog. When you've added your snippet, just click on the "verify" button.
If you did it correctly, Alexa will verify your site and will start keeping your stats and add it to their database. If it says it can't verify your site, go back and try it again. This is the free version for verification. You can pay a monthly fee to Alexa if you wish and get lots more statistics.
