What a day. I was out all day and just arrived home and returned a few calls, made supper and sat down to kick back and relax in front of the tube. Nothing but snow – No Cable!
Yes, I paid the bill.
Actually, I only paid half the bill. Where I live they charge a month in advance. I refuse to pay in advance, so I always pay for the month I'm using it, but It did cross my mind they may be trying to make a point.
Now, I've had Vonage phone service since 2006 and you guessed it – VOIP. When I saw the little red light flashing on my router, jeez, the phone's out too.
So I grabbed the cell and called the cable company. Service outage, it should be back on shortly.
What did people DO before cable TV and the Internet? Got closer to family and actually talked, maybe played games? So I decided to write a post. I can write it but can't post it.
On to the meat of my post – Affiliate Marketing.
Is it worth joining some affiliate network or going it on your own in a niche? In my experience, it's worth joining an affiliate program if you find a good one. What constitutes a good affiliate program? Well, you could look over this blog and find the best ;-)
I've already done the work in finding and checking them for you. Other than that, when you find one you think is for you, do a little research:
How long has the company been in business?
How solid is their company according to the Better Business Bureau?
How do they pay? (online transfer – PayPal or another online payment processor is best) vs a mailed check
How is their history of paying their affiliates on time?
For a company like Clickbank or Amazon, does the product you're thinking of promoting have lots of charge-backs or are the customers generally satisfied?
Does the sales page look nice and is something you’d buy from? How long has the product or promo been going on?
Do a little research now and save yourself trouble later by knowing the affiliate program you're thinking of joining has a good track record.
If you want to take the easy route and know you're joining a top notch program, have a look at the Business and Products review page at the top of this blog. I’m always adding to it. You may also want to have a look at the new advertising page I’m working on. The advertising I’m bringing you here really works. You will get signups and build any business you have.
Ok. My little red router light just turned to green…
Seems Everyone today wants to start a business and work for themselves.
And why not?
The economy is still in the tank and there's a number of reasons why you'd like to start a business.
The key to success is to do something you love – whether you'd be paid for it or not.
If you love what you do, you'll become a success.
Please notice I said become.
Basically, here's the roadmap:
1. Determine what it is you love to do.
2. Apply this to the business you'd like to begin.
3. Find the quickest way from point A to B.
3. Rinse and repeat.
It's no more complicated than that. And this works for everything – especially an online business.
Here's a tip I'll share with you right now for an online business.
Use every piece of software at your disposal. Whatever you can use to help you get the job done quicker or more efficiently, why not use it?
Google some of the business, design, email software available now to help you run a business and it's amazing. And there's more arriving every day.
Here's another tip: Never stop learning. Everything new you learn will make you more valuable.
Here‚s a trick I use: When you learn something new, write it down (or copy & paste)
into a journal on your computer. Keyword the journal entry – so it's searchable.
You learned this once, you don't need to learn it again – but you will probably need to go back and reference it at a later time.
Think about it. If you learn one new thing every day, you'll know 30 new things by the end of each month, or 360 a year.
Let's get started…

var _gaq = _gaq || [];
_gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-16331616-2']);
_gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);
(function() {
var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;
ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';
var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
})();

There are almost as many different kinds of internet businesses as there are people that run them. One of my absolute, all-time favorite business models is an affiliate marketing business. It's the cat's meow as far as I'm concerned. I get to help my people and show them how I do it. When they[...]
Instead of another blog about internet marketing today, I want to tell you a story. My story – of how I started an internet home business including the good, the bad and the ugly. My intention is to show you anyone can do it, even a stubborn know it all, not willing to listen like[...]
First a confession then on to today's post. I love running a useful blog that helps people with what they are trying to accomplish related to a home business. The reason I don't post more and reason I don't write more articles is because I don't like it all that much. I[...]
Starting today, I'm going to start a series on business specific subjects you'll need to build your online business. First up is 6 great ways to collect email addresses. Bluntly put, your list is the lifeblood of your business. Without a list you can market to you're basically SOL. Another thing I want[...]
Today, many of us want to go to work for ourselves – and why not? You can usually make more money by running your own business. Research shows those that run their own businesses make more money and are happier than those who have a “job” and work for someone else. However, the difference between[...]
I like totally agree with the SEO method. You just have to do what feels good to you and works for whatever website you have to rank. This search engine marketing stuff is totally new to me but I can learn it and do OK with it. People will visit your site if you give[...]
Instead of the right and wrong ways to advertise part 2, I'm giving you the different ways to generate traffic. I use these and they WORK! I think this post will help you much more than the one I was planning. Before we get into the "meat" of the article let me say this. The[...]
This is going to be part 1 of a 2 part post on internet advertising. Sometimes I wish I had all the money back I've wasted on advertising the wrong way over the years. I literally keep all the ads I've ever created just to go over them now and again. When I peruse[...]
I was talking to my friend the other day who’s a affiliate marketing specialist. He bemoaned the fact that many of his affiliates will join his business and just refuse to do anything. He offers to help them any way he can and they just won’t do anything to advance. After listening to him[...]
No two words have ever inspired so much dreaming, inspiration, soul searching or even terror in the last few years. In every Sunday's local business section I always look at the new DBA's for people starting a new business. I also look at the business discontinuances for people ending them. As you may guess, especially[...]
